Darth Maul vs Darth Gravid
May 26th 2019, 12:16 pm
The apprentice of the best Sith Lord in history vs the Sith Lord that comes halfway between Bane and Sidious in the Banite line. All out, both characters in their primes, battle takes place on the fields of Dantooine

Maul should take it, I'd peg him at around Tenebrous's master tbh.

Gravid’s Force push hits him like a nuke

New feat for Maul: He can survive a nuclear bomb tier force push.

Knowing Maul he’d survive the nuke blast but die of radiation poisoning

@DC77 (Reborn) Imo Bane is already comparably powerful to Maul and the fact that Gravid scales significantly above him places him beyond Maul tbh.

Maul wins, honestly. This isn't a black mark on Bane, however.

@NotAA3 Why is Bane comparable to Maul?

@DC77 (Reborn) Bane's temple feat which was achieved while exhausted and vastly pre-prime leads me to believe he could rival Maul at his peak.

Maul's barracks feat is better tbh.

Bane's feat is very good but it is a charged up, focused feat and completely drained his force reserves so I am not convinced it puts him above TPM Maul

Bane's exhaustion was also attributed to the long lightsaber duel:LOTL wrote:Bane's feat is very good but it is a charged up, focused feat and completely drained his force reserves so I am not convinced it puts him above TPM Maul
Path of Destruction wrote:Bane watched the spectacle of the Temple's implosion from the safety of the ground at the foot of the stairs. Billowing clouds of dust rolled out from the wreckage and down the stairs toward him. Exhausted by the long lightsaber battle and drained by the sudden unleashing of the Force, he simply lay there until he was covered in a layer of fine white powder.
And do forget he just took a long hard twenty-meter tumble down the stairs that left him bruised battered and stunned.
Path of Destruction wrote:But in his haste Bane had leapt too far; he was balanced precariously on the precipice of the uppermost stair, the steps falling sharply away behind him. Kasim responded by using the Force to knock Bane backward, sending him tumbling down the great stone staircase, away from the Blademaster. The fall would have broken his neck-or at least fractured an arm or a leg-if Bane hadn't cocooned himself in the Force. Even so he reached the bottom bruised, battered, and momentarily stunned.
And Kas'im's speech was only at best 5 seconds, going by the audiobook.
And Bane accomplished this from an awkward position on the ground twenty meters down from his target with no focal point, a good portion of the impact would have been blunted by Kas'im's Force shield, and the rest still collapsed the entrance.
Yes, it was a nexus feat but frankly DoE Bane scales vastly above PoD Bane it doesn't matter. He arguably scales from his nexus feats.
Ruusan was also a potent nexus of light and dark after the detonation of the Thought Bomb.
Rule of Two wrote:In the wake of Kaan's ultimate weapon, a powerful Force nexus was created: an invisible maelstrom of dark- and light-side energies capable of permanently altering the planet's weather patterns.
Yet amped PoD Bane wasn't even capable of instant killing two mercenaries:
Rule of Two wrote:Clenching the fingers of his left hand tight against his open palm, Bane wheeled toward the two men on his right and thrust his fist up into the air. A dozen forks of blue lightning arced out from above his head to envelop the screaming soldiers, cooking them alive. Shriek-ing in agony, they danced and twitched like marionettes on electric strings for several seconds before their smoking husks collapsed on the ground.
But when in no shape to do battle with Zannah and too tired to convincingly come up with an excuse for his absence.
Dynasty of Evil wrote:When Bane returned to Ciutric, he was surprised to find Zannah's ship still gone, but he was grateful that she wouldn't be waiting for him back at the mansion. He was in no shape to do battle with her now; he was even too tired to come up with a lie to explain his absence without raising her suspicions.
And hindered by the Huntress's Force suppression he was able to kill three mercenaries instantly before they had a chance to scream and the text notes he would have incinerated them had he been at full capacity.
Basically DoE Bane > Hindered DoE Bane >> Ruusan amped PoD Bane ~ Lehon amped PoD BaneDynasty of Evil wrote:He didn't stay down, however. He sprang back to his feet, simultaneously drawing his lightsaber with his right hand as he sent a blast of lightning out from the fingertips of his left. The violet bolts should have incinerated all four of his targets on the balcony, yet again the strange power interfering with his ability to draw upon the Force hindered his efforts. Three of the victims were electrocuted, dying before they even had a chance to scream. The fourth, however, managed to throw herself back from the balcony's edge, evading the deadly attack.
The barracks feat is an involuntary display of power which we know can be reflective on one's potential not actual power they can unleash at will. He's never done anything close to that magnitude again even as of TCW. Zannah snapped the necks of two Jedi and disintegrated Darovit's hand at the age of nine as a neophyte but no one would claim those feats is reflective of her then-current ability to use the Force at will.DC77 (Reborn) wrote:Maul's barracks feat is better tbh.

Gravid.
Maul isn't in the towering over Bane's power niche like what's required to beat someone in Gravid's Force range.

It being an involuntary display of power doesn't preclude him from replicating it at will, especially when Maul himself notes a few years later that he feels "stronger than ever" which would include his momentary outburst.

Yeah, Maul doesn't have any feats in TCW that are as good as his Force Scream potency at the age of 15, but that would come down to TCW having a minimal emphasis on power levels and Force powers.
