TPM kenobi may be more trained, but u seem to forget that the person who trained luke was a much, much better kenobi than TPM kenobi. he used kenobi's moves against vader, and vader literally played with him. he got cocky then got grazed. doesnt mean ESB is close to vader lol

We should just accept that in regards to the OT era Vader is consistently portrayed as the former. All his feats are consistent with Lucas's statements of Vader and Ben being post-prime.

I mean is it really hard to believe TPM Kenobi someone the same age as ESB Luke but with better training since birth and well seasoned over many gruelling missions since he was 13 is superior and would perform better than the version of Luke who gave Vader a good fight? The one that is superior to the version of Vader that is superior to ANH Kenobi?

ESB Luke's performance against Vader is not conclusive evidence that OT Vader is sub-TPM Kenobi. Luke was empowered by deep anger when he fought Vader on Bespin, George Lucas has even emphasised this. ESB Luke also had the benefit of being a Skywalker whose aptitude outclasses that of the PT Jedi, barring Anakin.

The fact that people are still trying to claim ANH Ben or TPM Obi-Wan are > Vader is honestly one of the most pathetic memes I've seen on the site. It's comicvine-tier trolling.

Im inclined to agree with you in regards to TPM Kenobi. I also think you're correct if we're talking about RotJ Vader and Ben. But the belief that Ben>ANH Vader isn't as ridiculous as you think it is.

It's ridiculous considering that the only indication that Ben > ANH Vader is a couple of quotes including one dubious G-Canon quote as opposed to the 2-3 other G-Canon sources that clearly portray Vader as winning, as well as pressuring Ben by simply standing in his presence. Ben has better discipline, wisdom and experience. That's it. Skill, power and physicals are all in Vader's favour.

Do you understand that if a more recent G canon source contradicts older ones then the newest one retcons the old ones. So since the GL ranking is newer compared to the ANH script and movie it retcons the sources you use.

When was this is a universal rule? ANH's script and film reflect the authorial intent of the time and thus serve as a reflection of what Lucas intended. Do you for example accept retcons such as Hermione from HP being black despite the text and original concept proving otherwise, then? You don't discard existing text because of a single quote.

Not to mention that source isn't even official.
