Circa a chat on discord where many claim the podium disadvantaged Sidious because he (...by choice) stayed in the same spot.

Great, so in other words we have evidence that Yoda can do this and that Sidious can't respond in kind.
Yet a lack of evidence for the opposite.

Sidious is primarily a Force user he isn't a duelist at heart like Yoda and Mace or even his apprentices. He's at the top when it comes to sabers but only because he needed to be not because he wanted to. When Yoda disarmed him it's almost like some great power inhibitor had been removed, he's better off sticking with lightning.
Yoda and Sidious traded advantages in the office. Sidious initially pressured him with the strength of his dark side augmentation, but Yoda regained his confidence and put the dark lord on the defensive in a back-peddling retreat as per the script and junior novel.

I mean, Sidious isn’t just one of the best duelists ever for nothing. There’s less than a handful of people in the SW universe that can beat him in sabers. Although I think Yoda is more skilled than Sidious.

Saying Sidious has mediocre dueling skill, supposedly couldn't find time to practice even though he finds time for all his other Sith business, and relies on the Force for a crutch is shitty Forcecast logic. Saying Sidious isn't a duelist at heart and primarily a Force user is different. I'm not saying he isn't a tier 9 duelist he in pure skill as well as augmentation, he is, but his general apathy and even to some degree contempt for lightsabers is a noticeable shortcoming compared to his peers in Mace and Yoda, and one not shared by his apprentices though obviously, he would still beat them in a pure duel because of his superior stats.

Yoda legitimately disarmed Sidious in sabers. The arguments that Sidious was environmentally disadvantaged are:

Yoda is the better duelist by a small margin. Sidious was cautious engaging in combat against Yoda but he was confident with his Force Powers. He knows how fatal and dangerous Yoda is. In pure sabers, Yoda wins unless his physicals are not augmented.

Sidious was legit at a disadvantage, Yoda’s still the better duelist I’d say though

Where is Sidious' contempt for dueling shown? I'd say he enjoys it.

I remember there was a quote in the rise of Darth Vader where Sidious says something like the sith have gone beyond the use of lightsabers. I mean, it’s not exactly contempt but more like lack of need and preference towards the force

A disadvantage he chose for himself...
Most sources have Palpatine retreating to the pod. Which makes sense given Yoda is the aggressor / the one chasing him.
Yoda is limited to attacking 2/3rds of palpatine's body at the top of the podium
Is boxed in completely when attacking at half circles
Sidious can descend from his disadvantaged position if he'd like. The rotund senate chamber does have a floor last I checked.
