Consider this. Exal Kressh had incredible powers and was apprenticed to the Emperor himself. Collapsing large structures was merely collateral damage to her in her battles, and she had no trouble with lifting and chugging scores of large and/or heavy objects like missiles towards the intended target. She was also able to shield herself from countless shards of glass coming her way (courtesy of Teneb Kel), and she could produce Force Lightning of such potency that her bolts shattered a heavy machine, a section of wall, and even disintegrated Teneb Kel's lightsaber on separate occasions when coming into contact with each. She was also capable of absorbing blaster-shots without a gesture. Essentially everything you would expect from a very powerful Force-user. However, she still failed to kill Teneb Kel and was assassinated by him instead.

Teneb Kel however experienced a dream in which he saw his future-self as Darth Thanaton (his prime), and the latter literally ONE-SHOTTED him with a single blast of Force Lightning in it. Such was the gap between the two.

The methods and techniques Darth Nox had to adopt to take on Darth Thanaton are INSANE - not something you see happen in a span of centuries let alone in years. Darth Thanaton is officially counted among the most powerful Sith of the Empire and he was natural. Even the likes of Dath Marr respected him.
