@The Witness I believe it's from a draft of the final script where Vader says he gave him a better fight (not that that's saying much considering Ben was losing to a hindered ANH Vader, and is also long before Vader began facing actual Jedi in the EU).

OK if the final script says Luke gave Vader a better fight than Ben, then what the hell is this Ben Kenobi>Vader kriff that's been plaguing the site?

Experience beats youth in this instance. Qui-Gon is likely a better head-to-head fighter than Vader and he would be quick to exploit Luke's mistakes born from inexperience much as he did against Xanatos.

Qui-Gon without a shadow of a doubt.

Jinn wastes him.

Luke contending with Vader+being superior to Ben gives him the edge imo.

Or.... Vader is simply the most overrated fighter on this, and many other, boards (along with Caedus) because he stuggles with a guy who barely budges an x wing, and Qui Gon is actually someone who'd mince Vader, given that the suited wretch has troubles pivoting his feet?

Ben was just a done washed-up old man by then. He could barely keep pace with a tentative Vader in a low-intensity tactical fight. Jinn could easily outwork and outhustle washed-up Kenobi and wear him down with sustained aggression.
