Kyp's combat feats are inferior to the Outlander's, and Arcann dominated them.

Arcann solidly. Vastly superior swordsman and powerful enough to at least somewhat deflect Kyp's Force attacks.

Kyp can honestly dominate. His combat ineffectiveness is vastly overblown, and he is outright on another plane in the Force compared to Arcann.

I'd argue he was equal, or slightly below Arcann as of JA trilogy, let alone him becoming stronger after every hardship he faced becoming "extremely powerful" directly after the events of Darksaberand such.

As a martial combatant -- we know he was seen as one of the greatest warriors in the NJO -- and by proxy, the galaxy -- and we know as of JA trilogy, he was significantly above the likes of Corran Horn in pretty much everything Luke taught [which, should logically include fencing skill]. We know Luke generally regarded him and Kyle on similar dueling tier; Kyle himself was able to best Rahm Moc in h2h combat while the latter donned the best exosletelon armor the Empire had to offer, and even stalemate Boba Fett before tapping into his Force sensitivity.


Arcann is probably the better dueling, but the leeway being granted to him is a tad bit overhyped to me.

Unless Kyp menages to tap into his force reserves (which he can’t consistently do) he’s not going to win this by any stretch of the imagination, imo. He lacks the lightsaber feats to compete. Arcann besting the Outlander, the best Jedi in the galaxy at the time,  seems much better than taking down young Jaina and participating in a spar with a hindered and injured Luke.   His probable parity with Kyle Katarn, while decent, doesn’t help either.
