Top 10 strongest characters (headcanon)
May 21st 2020, 9:17 am
The question here is what you think the top 10 strongest overall characters are, including power, skills, esoterics, intelligence, etc.
The twist is that this is about headcanons. So if you were in charge of SW, what would your ranking be? No showings, feats, scalings etc. matter unless you want them to. You can even just ignore characters you don't like. This is just about what you really want. Doesn't have to be logic behind it.
Mine for example (excluding some post-rotj characters since i don't have a good personal feel of them):
1. GM Luke
2. Sidious (note however, that I have luke only above him due to skills. In power and mastery Sidious has the edge)
3. Revan (probably not much of a shock.)
4. Marka Ragnos (While Sidious for me is more of a focused force, with the exaggerated sith tricks sharpened in the kind of Plagueis, Ragnos for me is the personification of the ancient sith's more raw and traditional powers)
5. Yoda (Self-explainatory.)/Nihilus
6. Malak (He's likely at least as durable and strong as Malgus and Vader, yet he also has the mastery and abilites you'd rather expect from sith lords like Sidious, vitiate, and dooku).
7. Dooku (I probably have him as the most skilled in pure lightsaber combat. Add to that his power, mastery and experience.)
8. Meetra Surik (Honestly in many ways she just seems like a mini-Revan in terms of abilities and combat, just with her extra force bond esoterics)
9. Emperor's Wrath/Hero of Tython/Mace Windu/Suited Vader (All three beasts in overall combat and abilities)
10. Ancients (Naga, Nadd, Adas, Vitiate, Kun, Tulak Hord, Nox, etc.)/Plagueis/Joruus/Krayt/Great masters (Oppo Rancisis, Odan-Urr, Yaddle, Vodo, Satele Shan, Nomi Sunrider, THON, TIIN, Barsen'thor, Ben)
Some preemptive answers:
KFV?: He has power and skill, but I've always had issues imagining him beating the above characters due to lack of mastery/control
Vitiate/Valkorian so low: always disliked him and saw him as an uninspired waste of space.
Eternal family?: ^, probably hold them at KFVs level.
Kun so low: Never liked him
Post-rotj characters?: Like I said I don't know them much, but if I had to guess I'd probably have Caedus around Dooku level, Vol/Taalon around ancients level, Luke's JA students at their prime slightly bellow the great masters (though possibly on it). If you care enough to wonder about others just ask.

1.Plagueis takes Abeloth’s place as being a God-like entity with the power to will anyone to live or die
2.God-Emperor Sheev Wankatine—has a monstrous amount of knowledge and has enforced his will on the dark side of the Force.
3.Anakin Skywalker—can will his blade to kill you, unless your will has greater command over the currents of the Force than his does
4.Kenobi—has achieved a nigh-unprecedented connection to the living Force and can basically compel his leg to hit you at 600kph if he’s inclined
5.Yoda—has a huge amount of knowledge but has never contemplated forcing his will on the Force—basically limiting his own potential
6.Tiin—unmatched in debate and battle, but has never tried to impose his will on the Force, for he would become the most powerful being the galaxy has ever known which he doesn’t need as he’s already top dog in debate and battle
7.Agen Kolar—the greatest bladesbeing the Order has ever produced, this lean ass dude doesn’t care for politics and touching the broader currents (whatever that means) because he’ll cut you down or smack you to the twelfth dimension
8.Mace Windu—whether you’re an Akk Guard or Lord Saddler, this guy tells you to shut up and you listen.
9.Oppo Rancisis—galaxy wide BM that is so strong it could compel every member of the opposition to kill themselves
10.Yarael Poof—casts galaxy wide illusions and can wrap his neck around your throat

Great lists so far. Additional question if anyone wants to answer: how close are your lists to how you'd rank characters as they are in lore currently (as in who is superior by feats/statements/scalings/etc.)

Re: Top 10 strongest characters (headcanon)

@SithSauce I think it's thematically fitting: falling to the dark side is a Faustian bargain that seems too good to be true at first glance but ends up costing you everything in the long run. Anakin was the most naturally gifted Force-sensitive ever and was on the cusp of attaining unparalleled power to save his wife's life; instead, she dies, and he loses all that grand potential, forever confined to an iron suit and a life of slavery. There's a certain poetry to it.
Still, I don't think Vader's meant to be the weakling that the forum nowadays seems to portray him as. Yes, he's a broken shadow of his former self, but his former self was a virtual demigod. It's an unfair comparison, and past that he's obviously meant to be an immensely dangerous Jedi-killer and very powerful in his own right. Note that alongside him in tier 3 I only have notable Sith Lords across galactic history and Council-level Jedi Masters, not people like TPM Kenobi.

In order in the tiers.
Not in order in the stars ranking.
TIER 0:
- Luke Skywalker: THE hero of the whole universe, redeemer of his father lost to the Dark Side, grand master of the new jedi order, son of the Chosen One. His whole life have been a succession of pain (both physical and psychological) and success making him the most powerful "classic" force user who ever exist.
- Darth Vader (Suited): Most iconic vilain of all time. He was the Chosen One, who will bring balance to the Force. His prime iteration isn't during RotJ but some time before ANH. After the death/disparition of Kenobi during their confrontation (where he was once again psychologically hindered), he began to lose faith in the Dark Side and thus decrease in power until RotJ where he is defeated by his son and killed by the backslash of Sidious lightning.
- Darth Plagueis: [can be switch with Yoda] A powerful and dark figure, master of the Sith Lord (Sidious) who will bring the galaxy under sith control. Extremly powerful and knowing nearly all secret from the Dark Side it seems that none can ever really know what was the depth of his knowledge. Despite being dead, it seems that his shadow is still haunting the galaxy...
- Yoda: [can be switch with Darth Plagueis] Last grand master of the old jedi order, he is the quintessential jedi. Even though Luke is the most powerful one, Master Yoda is the very incarnation of the jedi code, the Supreme Avatar of the Light. However because of his grand age he had decrease in power thus not being at his prime during the Clone War.
TIER 1:
- Tulak Hord: A famous name coming from a forgotten era. His legacy was nearly lost only remaining tales of his feats. His skills with a blade made him a undying legend transcending space and time. If this list was only based on raw duelling skills he will be at the top.
- Sith Emperor/Valkorion: The real threat of the Old Republic, a patient manipulator and an insanely powerful force user. His only goal was to achieve true immortality even if in order to succeed he was ready to destroy the whole univers.
- Revan: Neither a jedi nor a sith, he is the true champion that should have ultimately defeated the Sith Emperor. He isn't the most powerful or the most skilled in the list but he is the one that only find a way no matter the cost for him.
- Darth Caedus: [can be switch with Jaina Solo] Grandson of the Chosen One and nephew of Luke Skywalker, he is an very powerful force user coupled with an extremly versatile one. His five years journey granted him with unknown powers which make him a threat for any jedi. Despite being more powerful in the force than his twin he isn't as skilled as her with a blade.
- Jaina Solo: [can be switch with Darth Caedus] Sword of the Jedi her entire life was dedicate to protect other. Belonging to the bloodline of the Chosen One in addition to being a powerful force user she is a deadly duelist.
- Mace Windu: Rising star of the Jedi order, creator of the Vaapad dueling style and very incarnation of the duty. He should have become the successor of master Yoda if the Clone War didn't happen. He defeats the Lord of the Sith (Sidious) during an epic duel despite several disadvantages.
- Darth Sidious: The Lord of the Sith that make the grand plan started by Darth Bane to succeed. The things that place him as high on the list isn't his raw power or his dueling skills but instead his strategic mind and his sneeking ability (should be top 1 if the list was only based on this). Where his power cannot make him win he creates the condition of the win, the best example is his murder of Darth Plagueis despite being way weaker than him.
- Darth Bane: Creator of the grand plan and the Rule of Two he is a legend among the Sith and the Jedi. Extremly powerful and skilled he is a true visionary.
- Satele Shan: Son of Revan and Bastila Shan, grand master of the Jedi order and deadly foe to the Dark Side, she is the leading master of the Order during the comeback of the Sith after their disparition in the unknown region. Forged by one of the most brutal war that the Republic have faced she is a battlefield leader and a fierce warrior.
- Exar Kun: A prodigious jedi who falls to the Dark Side and threaten the Republic and the jedi order. He is the very incarnation of the lure of the power. Trained by the most skilled warriors of his era and praised by the wisest of them, he turned all of this knowledge against them after falling to the dark side.
- Anakin Skywalker: The Chosen One who didn't reach his full potential because of his fall to the DS and his defeat by Kenobi. An extremly powerful force user and a great duelist.
- Darth Nihilius: A mindless wound in the Force, only wanting to end his hunger. In term of power no one can resist his drain except the Jedi Exile (because she is also a wound in the Force). He is a threat to all life in the galaxy.
- Leïa Organa/Solo: The daughter of the Chosen One, powerful by essence. She lacks the training of her own daughter or the experience of her twin however she is still an incredible force user.
TIER 2:
* * * * * :
- Arcann: Son of Valkorion, powerful and relentless in his quest to reach the Eternal Throne.
- Darth Andeddu: Sith of the Ancient time, creator of the essence transfert, able to keep his mind in his holocron.
- Marka Ragnos: Lord of the Sith just before the War. Master of Vitiate, no one even dare to challenge him during his whole reign.
- Meetra Surik: A wound in the Force and an extremly powerful Force user. She faced and defeated the other wound in the Force.
- Kyp Durron: Great Jedi master from the New Jedi Order, really powerful in the Force and who need to restraint himself in order not to succomb under the DS.
- Darth Malgus: Violent and fully dedicated Dark Side, he is ready to achieve anything in order to make the Sith win the conflict. He is a battlefield berserker and one of the most feared warrior of the Sith order: a true descendant of Tulak Hord.
* * * * :
- The Barshen'tor: In the trouble time following the treaty of Corruscant he was one of the shinning star that save the Jedi order from ancient threat (the Terrak Morhage plague) or more actual one (the child of the Emperor).
- The Hero of Tython: Savior of the planet Tython, slayer of the Emperor (at least one of his iteration). He is a true jedi that never lost faith in the light side. His freeing from the Emperor influence make him growth extremly and allow him to face the Dark Side even in its more potent place.
- Darth Nox: New member of the Dark Council, his journey to power made him harnessing power through ancient techniques that everyone think was lost forever. With the help of the ghosts that he chained to him, he is a deadly threat.
- Wrath of the Emperor: Serving the Emperor and the Sith Empire, feared even by the Dark Council Member, he is the very expression of the Emperor Wrath. He is more a battlefield warrior than a Dark Side secret seeker.
- Shaak-Ti: Member of the Jedi council, praise for her skills and knowledge. She have been placed in one of the most important place for the Republic during the Clone War: Kamino the Clone factory.
- Plo Koon: Member of the Jedi council and one of his wisest member. A really renowned strategist of the Clone War;
- Darth Wyyrlock III: Servant of Darth Krayt but craving the power for himself. A great cunning intellect and a powerful dark side scholar.
- Darth Malak: Friend then arch-nemesis of Revan, true sith lord, able to master the Star Forge.
- Saba Sebatyne: Very agressive, strong and incredibly durable Jedi master from the new jedi order. Maybe less effective with the Force but incredibly powerful on her own. Her Barabel's physique capacities made her able to whithstand with more powerful Force user.
* * * :
- Kyle Katarn: Battle master of the new jedi order he is one of his most skilled member even though he lacks the power in the force to be top tier. His tactical mindset can also make him forget about the greater picture.
- Obi-Wan Kenobi: Master of Soresu, always keeping a full vision of every act and of its impact. Despite lacking the raw power of the other in this rank he easily compensate by his intellect.
- Darth Maul: Apprentice to Lord Sidious (this speaks volume in term of power), arch-nemesis of Kenobi and fierce warrior. He is a blunt figther rather using his strenght than his mind to defeat an opponent.
- Count Dooku: Second apprentice to Sidious but the very opposite of Maul. If the zabrak sith lord is a hammer, he is a rapier. Incredibly skilled duellist and powerful force user he is nonetheless not as efficient as he could be. Indeed his mindset makes him underestimate his opponent and played with them rather than directly going for the killing blow.
- Darth Zannah: Second sith Lord of the Rule of Two, she lacks the offensive capacity of his master in term of lightsaber skills and is less powerful. However she compensate with a set of dark side long lost techniques that allow her to defeat most of her opponent.
* * :
- Nomi Sunrider: Grand Master of the Jedi order during the Exar Kun War she is an extremly potent telepath and have an impressive display in term of Battle Meditation. She more efficient countering ennemy dark powers behind friendly forces than facing them directly on the battlefield.
- Celeste Morne: A jedi knight who sacrificed herself in order to protect the galaxy from the Rakgoule plague. Living thousands years with the spirit of Karness Muur made her grow in power but also more instable.
- Darth Tenebrous: Powerful sith lord but also great scientist. He decided not to see the force as a sort of magic but instead as a scientific domain that need to be study. He is extremly intelligent and thus rely way more on his intellect than on his power or skills.

- Lord Skere Kaan: Leader of the Brotherhood of Darkness, powerful telepath and charismatic leader. Despite not being a top tier fighter, he is still a relentless fighter. His determination allowed his ghost to resist the pull of the Thought Bomb despite this latter being created to trap spirits inside.
- Depa Billaba: Underestimated Jedi Knight, she is a great duellist (she was trained by Mace Windu after all). Her journey on Haruun Khal makes her fully apprehend the true nature of the Dark Side thus allowing her to channel better her inner darkside in Vaapad.
- Aayla Secura: Cool looking Jedi Knight. She would be perfect at this place. More of a duellist than a scholar.
- Asajj Ventress: Apprentice and assassin of Count Dooku she is a deadly foe. She is very skilled with her jarkai mastery of Makhashi. She is a very aggressive fighter, not allowing her opponent to rest. This can easily lead her to exhaust herself pretty quickly or to make some huge opening for her opponent. Her nightsister origin and her betrayal by Dooku forced her to become more unpredictable and to accept to join even jedi in her quest for revenge.
* * :
- Darth Bandon: Rising star of Malak Sith Academy, feared by the Dark Lord as a potential futur ennemy. Despite being a brilliant student at the academy he clearly lack the experience of the battlefield. However he compensate by devastating force attack.
- Savage Oppress: A mindless brute with an enormous strenght, powerful reserve in the Force and extreme durability. However his lack of tactic and understanding of a fight makes him fall pretty easily in every trap that his opponent can imagine.
I will certainly update this list and increase it from time to time.
amazing list

Azronger wrote:@SithSauce I think it's thematically fitting: falling to the dark side is a Faustian bargain that seems too good to be true at first glance but ends up costing you everything in the long run. Anakin was the most naturally gifted Force-sensitive ever and was on the cusp of attaining unparalleled power to save his wife's life; instead, she dies, and he loses all that grand potential, forever confined to an iron suit that and a life of slavery.
Not commenting just because I'm a Vader guy, genuinely an interesting thing. Reading Dark Lord, I always thought Vader was a pseudo inspirational story in a dark twisted way, much like how we identify with monsters Vader got handed a shitty plate and ran with it. I find it more thematically correct for him to lose all the raw power and potential as Anakin but evolve into a more intelligent combatant with greater mastery as Vader. Yes, he is confined to the suit forever dominated and unable to escape a life of living torment, but he has made the best of his situation.
That's my take.

I don't think Vader adapting to his situation is mutually exclusive with what I said. That's how I view him generally anyway.
