It's from a limited POV. It gets multiple things incorrect such as claiming Malak was outraged by Revan's death when obviously he betrayed him and it doesn't even know about the Star Forge. Per Cory himself, it can be debunked by more recent WOTC gameplay stats meaning the article itself is within the narrative of the WOTC game. Worse yet, the article was replaced twice over and removed by WOTC from their website for that reason.

It legit hilarious how someone can take that quote for meaning Kun is > Vader as a combatant.

Kun was a unredemable Sith Lord who's war cut entire swaths through the galaxy -- Vader was just Sidious glorified lapdog. While a bad guy -- he clearly, still have glints of goodness in him. As shown during RotJ, or even as early as The Will of Darth Vader.

You can argue Kun > Vader until you hearts content, but to do so, is, to quote Zenyatta, is using a flimsy shield.

Amazing reply, the western hemisphere bows in awe.

But it's true nonetheless. The description is clearly a limited POV. And it's not as if we don't have in-game KotOR/KotOR 2 scaling that puts even Traya near Malak, nevermind amped Traya. Nihilus was bigger and badder than either of them and yet he's portrayed as sub-Nadd in the game he gets to shine in.

Some of you guys take author quotes too seriously, especially when it's normal that authors generally don't like to give straight answers for anything and they won't have great knowledge on other things with what they're writing, usually.
