Are Palpatine's "Most Powerful" Accolades invalid?

In the past these accolades were being spammed all over the forums.

No, but people who wank the ancient sith of TOR, TOTJ, or otherwise will say they are to help promote their own fanboyism

No. However, the ones claiming he's "the most powerful dark sider to ever exist" (not: the most powerful Sith ones are perfectly valid) are suspect since they include the likes of the Son, Abeloth and Valkorion.

Valkorian isn't Sith as he himself stated. So those quotes wouldn't really apply to him anyway. As Vitiate they would, but Vitiate was never really around to start with.

I don't think Valkorian is supposed to be on Sheev's level, not DE sheev anyway

He has been stated to be the most powerful Sith ever many times. That's not invalid. At least, it would be very hard to argue against it do to how many quotes Sidious has, and feats, and hype.
As far as him being "the most powerful dark force user ever" he was quotes that state that as well:
It quickly became clear to Luke that this decrepit and seemingly defenseless old man was masterfully adept in the ways of the Dark Side of the Force. Indeed, as Vader had warned, the Emperor had become the Dark Side's most powerful expression. (Dark Empire Footnote)
Inside the spacious interior of the Galactic Senate chamber, Yoda challenged the Emperor. The two engaged in a spectacular duel—a contest between the most powerful practitioners of the Force’s light and dark sides. (The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia)
Valk and Yoda (see above for Yoda) have quotes like this too however:
The Sith Emperor is the most powerful Force-user who has ever existed. Unless this implacable enemy can be defeated, the Jedi Order is doomed. From (Star Wars: The Old Republic: Encyclopedia)
None of the quotes are invalid necessarily. They are subjective. Highly doubt that the writers meant the quotes to include force deities anyway. To each is own.

Eh, the TOR Encyclopedia is written of the time, so it's not really an OOU source like the Complete Encyclopedia.
But yeah, I doubt it would include deities, those would be in their own separate tier anyway.

@Latham2000 Valkorion is debatably not a Sith, and even if he were, out-of-universe publication dates are utterly irrelevant. If Valkorion were a Sith, he would be bound by them just as anyone else.

Those quotes are simply a reflection of the lore. We know Sheev is the most powerful and successful dark sider in history because that is how he is written.

pretty much this. there is an intent for him to be stronger than all dark siders before, or during his time. its pretty obvious tbhILS wrote:Those quotes are simply a reflection of the lore. We know Sheev is the most powerful and successful dark sider in history because that is how he is written.

@SnowxElf
Well, they're technically contradicted, and the second one you posted doesn't even state "ever" it can easily just refer to during the events of ROTS - not all of history.
Which means that they're not factual, ergo there's no reason to take them as binding.
The quotes you cited were written before The Son was conceived as a character, so obviously the intent wasn't to include him in them. However, Valkorion wouldn't have intended to be bound by the quotes either given that he likewise predates their existence.

Most powerful Sith = Completely valid and confirmed anyway.
Most powerful dark side user/practitioner = invalid. This would put him above Abeloth and the Son, and possibly the Father too.

Abeloth and the Father also use the dark side. As for the Son, he still wields the dark side, AKA is a practitioner of it. You're using technicalities to try and discount it.Corvinus wrote:@BoD The Son isn't a dark side practitioner, he is the dark side.

@BoD Yes he wields it, as in he has it and can use it, because he is the dark side.

Let's ignore the Son for now, then. Sidious is canonically below the likes of Abeloth, who uses the dark side.

@BoD Fair enough. Just know that invalidates Valkorion's accolades though.
