Honestly, more or less matching Kylo for a majority of their duel impresses me more than any of Anakin's feats.

Matching Dooku? Stomping bloodlusted Ahsoka? Holding his own for a time against Zygeerian slavers with just skill when they had reach, numbers and knowledge of how Jedi fight?DC77 (Reborn) wrote:Honestly, more or less matching Kylo for a majority of their duel impresses me more than any of Anakin's feats.

@BreakOfDawn:
Never happened.
Matching Ren is better. Much better.
Kylo disposing of the entire KOR in seconds pretty much kriffs on this.

Never happened.
Second fight between them on Naboo was fairly even.
Sure, Dooku was more skilled, but the gap was pretty small.
Matching Ren is better. Much better.
First, Ren's feats are pretty meh. Second, when was she matching him? On Endor, he was fighting defensively to prove how dark she was and immediately began manhandling her when he began fighting back, to the point that he had her on the ground and could have killed her if Leia hadn't intervened.
Kylo disposing of the entire KOR in seconds pretty much kriff on this.
Ren had a weapon that cut through theirs (we even see it slice through one of the KoR's weapons) as well as a massive power advantage. Also, the KoR are pretty lacking in feats thus far, whereas the Zygeerians have feats like taking down TCW season 4 Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Rey never matched Ben, she gets beat handily. Ben never even wanted to fight her, which explains why it planned out for so long.

@BreakofDawn There’s a quote that says KOR ~ Inquisitors.

Re: Rey vs Anakin Skywalker [Spoilers]

For anyone curious, this is the main part of the fight:
From 1:48 onwards, Ren gets tired of it and easily stops every hit from Rey, before basically stomping her. It's also worth noting that Ren had no intention of killing Rey, as he wanted to turn her to the Dark Side. By contrast, Rey was actively trying to kill Ren.

Which is vague as hell. That means they're either Grand Inquisitor level, Seventh Sister/Second Sister level, Fifth Brother level, or Ninth Sister level. It gets a lot less impressive the further on you go.IdrisianGraecus wrote:@BreakofDawn There’s a quote that says KOR ~ Inquisitors.

Not really. Rey was just physically exhausted and ran out of steam. Though Kylo was superior, him fighting defensively is more of a tactical choice, but he intended to kill her. When he had Rey beaten, he raised his lightsaber to do so, but was stopped by Leia's intervention.
IdrisianGraecus wrote:There’s a quote that says KOR ~ Inquisitors.
That's not the only possible interpretation. It says "they would have been perfect stock to become Imperial Inquisitors" but that doesn't preclude them from needing more training. After all, Soule stated the KoR are not as strong as Jedi, and Inquisitors were former Jedi.

It’s genuinely mind-boggling how liberally some of you use the word ‘stomp.’ Rey and Kylo were obviously well-matched throughout the movie; Rey eventually fatiguing towards the end of their final fight doesn’t negate the entire duel beforehand, lmfao.

@BreakOfDawn:
Not really no.
Slaughtering the KOR in a matter of seconds is meh? The same KOR who have been stated to be Inquisitor level, with the only difference being a disparity in refinement, or so the quote seems to indicate. Furthermore, Ren's accolades and general hype place him at a pretty high level circa TROS, a level I don't think mid-TCW Anakin can match.
Fighting defensively doesn't automatically mean it wasn't his intention to kill her, you'd get pretty zany results if you applied that logic to every engagement in the mythos. At the final part of the duel he blatantly raises his saber to strike her down, and as you yourself noted, would have ended her life had it not been for Leia's timely intervention. Rey might not be = to Ren, but she's close, as indicated by their lengthy duel. KJ and RGR are right, you're being far too liberal with the word "stomp". Ren only begins to "stomp" his adversary once her stamina starts flagging.
Proof? Pretty sure that never happened.
Isn't this the case for 90% of character's victories throughout the mythos? A power advantage? Not sure why Ren's is being taken as some ridiculously unfair edge.
Citation needed for them beating Kenobi.
@Rohirrim
It says they need to be "tamed", which I don't think indicates further training as a requirement, but rather something along the lines of further honing and refining for their already Inquisitor level abilities, if we're arguing in the nature of good faith.
@King Joker:
As usual, KJ is right.

@DC77 (Reborn): Agreed with everything you said. Regarding that quote, you're right that it doesn't indicate they need further training, but I think it's a viable interpretation in order to reconcile this quote with Soule's statement that KoR are not as strong as a Jedi.
Edit: What I mean by "training" is probably not far off from "refinement". They're likely still low Inquisitor level.

@Rohirrim Citation for Soule's statement pls? As far as the KOR themselves are concerned I don't think a reconciliation to make an OOU source fit with an author statenent is particularly necessary, since I don't think the 2 quotes (Based off the limited description you've given me of Soule's) mesh all that well together, and one is honestly of greater significance than the other.

@DC77 (Reborn) Here you go: https://www.starwars.com/news/marvel-star-wars-the-rise-of-kylo-ren-interview.
“They can all use the Force, the dark side of the Force, to varying degrees,” he reveals. “They’re not as powerful as a Jedi or a Sith, but they use it when they fight"
Given that he's the author tasked with fleshing out the KoR, I'd say he's pretty reliable for providing additional context.
