I seriously doubt Plagueis has much of the power of Luke Skywalker, which was said by an Abeloth who had already seen Luke all-out against her.Blade_of_Dorin wrote:Might I ask why?MasterCilghal wrote:Interesting, but I’ll back Vol.

Vol has better hype and better feats. Don't see how Plagueis wins this.

Probably by snapping Vol's neck, but he might bite his cock off too. I'm torn between the two.

How much is much? 40%, 50%, 60%? This is so nebulous. Abeloth could easily be talking relative to the average force user of the era, all of whom are far beneath Luke.

I always took it as atleast over 50%.DarthSkywalker0 wrote:MasterCilghal wrote:I seriously doubt Plagueis has much of the power of Luke Skywalker, which was said by an Abeloth who had already seen Luke all-out against her.Blade_of_Dorin wrote:Might I ask why?MasterCilghal wrote:Interesting, but I’ll back Vol.

RoTJ vader has 80% of the emperors power . yet he is still basically a one shot material for RoTJ sidious .
so "having much of someones power" is rather relative .
plagueis could be 90% of sidiouses power yet still lose to any version from CW to DE just with different difficulty .
these speculations and assumptions are hardly measurable .
and can´t be really used in an argument .
Vol was strong in TP but does he have some impressive combat feats ?

I’ve always considered that quote in a different way, without any numerical quantification. I take it is Luke cannot ragdoll him or something similar. It is the specific context in which it is written that leads me to believe so. Abeloth notes that it was because of his incredible power (at least partially) that He was able to severely injure her, a feat that is particularly impressive considering that only Luke has been able to achieve in a direct confrontation (and legitimately).
Here is the entire passage:
Ascension wrote:Abeloth sat huddled in Ship's interior. She had not revealed to Khai or anyone just how badly wounded she had been by the attack on Kesh. Vol had much of the power of Skywalker, combined with experience, and it had been a devastating encounter
i would also like to add that he has scaling placing him far above Ivaar Workan, who himself is significantly more powerful Galaan, who is about equal to Kyle Katarn, himself noted as one of the top jedi of the era.

I doubt Luke could ragdoll Plagueis either. Logically he could, but I could never see that happening in an actual SW comic, or novel.

I don’t see how that changes the situation. Luke might not be able to ragdoll Plagueis when fighting in character, but the difference here is that when Abeloth said that she had already seen Luke open himself fully to the force to the point where his cells were bursting with force energy. So Vol not being far below Luke is very good for him. His fight with Abeloth, which I shall analyze in depth in future posts, is further proof of that.Deronn_Solo wrote:I doubt Luke could ragdoll Plagueis either. Because judging the quote by you're specific reading of it, I don't see Luke ragdolling Plagueis period. He has never done so to a character on the Muun's caliber, neither 'Thul or Caedus are touching Plagueis.
I think you can insert Plagueis in place of Vol, and the much of his power would still apply, because "much of someone's power" is rather ambiguous.

I disagree in the case of Unu. His ability to bend turbolasers, having the combined force potential of trillions of beings definitely makes him a challenge for Plagueis. And regardless, Luke has shown power sufficient to ragdoll Plagueis (see Elm’s blog on Luke’s scaling in NJO and legacy).

Why can Luke ragdoll Plagueis again?

I think that his defeat of the emperor in DE, ability to absolutely stomp Unu, his manipulation of the dovin basals, and casual humbling of Caedus all outclass anything Plagueis has by a substantial degree. Feel free to correct me if i’m wrong.DarthSkywalker0 wrote:Why can Luke ragdoll Plagueis again?

I somewhat arbitrarily put them as relative peers. I agree with MasterCilghal that "much the power of" in that context implies something like "cannot ragdoll", but I'm not sure if Luke can "ragdoll" Plagueis. Vol's TP performance against Abeloth is also insanely impressive, but I doubt that it's as impressive as it looks at first glance, because there's no way Vol could replicate that in a physical confrontation (and indeed he dies to her off-screen). That being said, Plagueis does seem to have more of a reason to be uber-powerful from a background standpoint, the unbalancing feat, arguable scaling over Vitiate, and midichlorian manipulation. How do we compare the two sets of feats? I'm not entirely sure.
