Maul's combat skills are nigh-unparalleled. Cade may be more powerful, but I don't see Cade detecting natural openings in Maul's Force defenses, I don't see Cade creating openings when he's an inferior duelist, and I don't see Cade forcing openings when Maul's at least comparably powerful. It'll come down to a conventional duel, and Maul will win.

I agree with the overall premise - that Maul is a better fighter than Cade, so it is unlikely Cade will be able to create openings (via skill), etc, and thus Maul is more likely to win a fight if they're comparable in power - but:

Why? Cade's hardly a slouch when it comes to tagging his opponents with Force attacks - he consistently uses it to gain the upper hand in fights against foes comparable to him.

I don't think Cade's detecting natural openings in Maul's attacks because I don't think openings will/can naturally arise. Maul's too good. They need to be engineered, like Palpatine did. But Cade's no Palpatine.

Maul's power feats and hype aren't that dissimilar from Cade. Mega raw power, mega scaling, moves big objects, makes a fool of powerful Jedi/Sith. And I don't see any distinguishing feat from Cade to put him notably beyond Maul.

I’d favor Maul for similar reasons Ant laid out.

Eh, I think Cade is more powerful than Maul is more skilled, and even if the differences were the same, the superior power would count for more for my money.

Agreed, they're both powerful, but I'm disagreed that this creates comparability. Cade's raw power feats and hype are just better imo.

Cade's performance against Vong Krayt and subsequent growth impress me more than any of Maul's scaling.

Which TK feats from Maul compare to Cade's shuttle feat which was accomplished while vastly pre-prime?

Which Jedi/Sith has Maul made a fool of that compare to Talon?

1) Hett puts up a fairly solid fight against Kenobi

2) Hett grows vastly since afterward and even boasts in his fight with Cade about how he "honed his skills in The Clone Wars" and has "killed thousands of opponents since then"

3) Cade puts up a fairly solid fight - visibly enraging Krayt and contending with him for a solid 3 pages

4) Cade was unfocused as of this time period and undergoes vast growth afterward ("new mastery of the Force") which is shown by him consistently struggling with Talon, yet dominating her in Legacy: War #5

I know you'll probably contest premise 1 (Hett's performance with Kenobi), but I really don't think the circumstances you bring up even come close to making up for his growth+Cade's. I definitely think the fight proves a substantial power gap between Cade and Maul.

I think the growth stuff for Cade applies moreso for you as well, given that you apparently view Cade as comparable to Reborn Krayt.

Any deficit Cade may have in skill (which I doubt is that large to begin with) likely does not offset his Force advantage.

I honestly don't think Maul can hold up against Bulq, but neither can Cade. So while I hate how overrated Maul is on these boards I agree Cade is better but still kinda trash
