Episode IX... Palpatine returns?!
April 22nd 2019, 5:40 am
Might aswell start the first topic
Are they bringing Sheev back because they want to bring back all those fans who were disappointed with Last Jedi??
Will Sheev be back as a spirit similar to Darth Bane in the Clone Wars??
Is his spirit haunting the remains of the 2nd Death Star??

Apparently Ian indirectly implied that Palpatine is actually dead in IX. So he didn't survive death or anything.

@quigondies Yeh, I don't think they will actually bring him back alive.
But he will still play a big role regardless, I think. Maybe we will learn who Snoke is through him.

If he's actually alive, it would somewhat diminish Anakin's redemption, so here's hoping he isn't. He can still be influential in IX, via some kind of Bane-like vision, via some plan he devised years ago (Ian could appear in a flashback or as one of those messenger droids from BF2 maybe). If they do decide to bring him back in full power, I hope we're given some decent explanation, what with the "no eternal life for Sith" and all.

Yeah DE really isn't that great imo.
OT-Palpatine coming back could be really good or really bad depending on how they handle it.

Pretty much everything about DE was a terrible idea IMO, from "cloning the Force", which makes it lose a lot of its mystical appeal, to resurrecting the Big Bad (multiple times) a mere 6 years after Endor, and so rendering the entirety of Episodes I-VI useless, as well as sh*tting on Lucas' view that immortality can't be achieved through selfishness. But I mean, if you enjoyed the story that's perfectly fine, I'd just rather not have IX go that way.

What George suggested is irrelevant to the story itself. DE ruined some of the thematical concepts established in SW.

It's going to be a Force Spirit type deal or a Force Vision. I just know it is.

It's probably just going to be a one-scene cameo of Sheev and a few mentions here and there. But I'm fine with it as long as he doesn't turn out to be Snoke.
