GEN'DAI, THE IMMORTAL SPECIES

The Gen'Dai are a formless and boneless species from an unknown world
Gen'Dai Respect Thread Fxo8hx10
"I'm a walking nerve cluster."
- Durge

This thread will cover general Gen'Dai biology and also a respect thread on every single known Gen'Dai

VIDEO GUIDE

Throughout the thread i may use timestamps in red (i.e 0:38) if you see a timestamp like that it means to go that that point in the video below (i tried for like an hour to get my own version with better quality and with only the relevant clips but sadly it kept getting taken down so we have to use this)

REGENERATIVE ABILITIES

The Gen'Dai all have extraordinary regenerative abilities, they have no vital organs and only nerve and vascular systems which makes them functionally immortal/indestructible

Gen'Dai in the SWTOR codex wrote:A rare and reclusive species, Gen'Dai are virtually immortal. Living for thousands of years, they possess distributed nervous and vascular systems and lack any vulnerable vital organs. Combined with their natural regenerative abilities, they can survive almost any injury, including total dismemberment. Despite their resilience, Gen'Dai typically wear heavy armor to give structure to their sinewy, boneless forms.

Agent Madel Felth In SWTOR mission Dead Drop wrote:They call him "the Flame," and we have killed him twice. Each time, he reappears. The locals claim he's immortal

Admiral Jefand Ange in SWTOR mission the flame wrote:Gen'Dai have no hearts or brains to fail. The only way to destroy them is to shred the bodies and scatter them

New Essential Guide To Alien Species wrote:The Gen’Dai are a mysterious and rare species with an extraordinarily long life span; some have reportedly lived for more than four thousand standard years. Their long lives may be attributed in part to unique nervous and circulatory systems that make them highly impervious to injury. The Gen’Dai nervous system consists of millions of nerve clusters spread throughout the body, which gives them extraordinary reflexes. In addition, Gen’Dai do not have a central heart; instead, an extensive vascular system distributes blood. Due to their lack of centralized vital organs, Gen’Dai can withstand multiple injuries that would kill most humanoids. Although it has never been verified, it is rumored that Gen’Dai are able to survive complete dismemberment. They are able to enter into a state of hibernation for long periods of time in which they heal wounds, cure diseases, and slow their aging process.

The Gen’Dai are a nomadic species who have wandered so long, their homeworld is no longer remembered. They are not prolific in terms of numbers, as they have a particularly low birthrate, perhaps a result of their long lives and regenerative abilities. However, this long life also causes their minds to weaken with age, and the Gen’Dai are susceptible to mental disorders such as depression, hysteria, and even forms of psychosis. It is most fortunate for the galaxy that by nature the Gen’Dai are not an aggressive species.

The Gen'Dai physiology boasts millions of nerve clusters throughout the body, and a vascular system that distributes blood without the need of a central heart. Lacking the vulnerable vital organs of most humanoids, a Gen'Dai could sustain multiple lacerations and even, it is rumored, complete dismemberment and yet still survive. In addition to these extremes of endurance, the distributed neural network gives the Gen'Dai phenomenal reflexes. Should a Gen'Dai sustain too many injuries, they are capable of entering into extended periods of hibernation, during which they can heal wounds, recover from disease, and slow the aging process

ACCOLADES AND FEATS

The Imperial forces on Nar Shaddaa think they have killed The Flame 2 separate times, but he always survives, which makes Agent Madel Felth send the imperial player (either Scree, Cipher Nine, The Emperors Wrath or Darth Nox (it is unclear which act it would be seeing as it is a side quest but wookiepedia places it as cold war so im just going with it))

SUNDER

Sunder is one of the 4 cartel warlords who leads the an army of mercenaries before his defeat
Gen'Dai Respect Thread Sunder10
"I do not call my army immortal. Our enemies do."
- Sunder

THE ARMY

For some background, Sunder is first introduced in the "scum and villainy" operation, where dread master styrak (pretending to be the hutt cartel) summons a large group of mercenaries to Darvanis, this army is ran by Sunder and 3 other "cartel warlords"

This army is such a threat that Moff Orlec considers it "the biggest display of underworld power the galaxy has seen"

Moff Orlec in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:Your objective is simple: Infiltrate the the biggest display of underworld power the galaxy has seen

Moff Orlec thinks that the entire empire is in debt to the player after the defeat of the army

Moff Orlec in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:As for you, the Empire is indebted.

Both Moff Orlec and the supreme chancellor of the republic is scared of what would have happened if the hutts/dread masters would have gained control of the army

Supreme Chancellor Saresh in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:The Though of those butchers going to work for the hutts was bad enough... if the Dread Masters had taken control of them, I can't imagine the carnage we'd face

Moff Orlec in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:Never dreamed the Dread Masters would turn up on Darvannis. No doubt had their eyes on all the weapons and manpower assembled there. We're just lucky you were there to stop them. If they'd made off with all those mercenaries

They are described as the galaxies most brutal and bloodthirsty mercenaries (seeming as it is an entire army it is likely a reference to the cartel warlords)

GenoHaradan in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:The Hutts have enticed the galaxy's most brutal mercenary armies

Supreme Chancellor Saresh in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:These mercenaries are the most bloodthirst in the galaxy-their atrocities rival the worst of the Sith. They cannot be allowed to join the hutt cartel

The empire and the republic are both scared of the gathering forces

Scum and villainy developer blog wrote:The storyline picks up the trail of the Dread Masters after Operation: Terror from Beyond. Both the Republic and the Empire have heard rumors of a gathering of mercenaries, arms traders, and war beast handlers on the remote desert planet of Darvannis. Intelligence points to the Hutt Cartel as the organization that is gathering an army for an unknown purpose. Both Republic and Empire forces know that the Hutt Cartel must be stopped.

They supposedly hired nearly every mercenary in the galaxy

Shaedo in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:Cartel brought in every hired gun, beast wrangler and arms dealer between here and Coruscant
Word is the hutts are buying up all the firepower and muscle they can get their hands on. Been recruiting mercs by the thousands

The imperial character thinks that with this army the hutts would become a galactic superpower

Imperial Character in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:Sounds like the Hutts are positioning themselves to become a galactic superpower

Moff Orlec thinks it will take the Empire's "very best" (which would be either Nox, Scree, Emperors Wrath or Cipher Nine) to defeat the army

Moff Orlec in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:I've already organized a mission to wipe out the Cartel's mercenary forces, but such an assault will require the Empire's very best.

FEATS AND ACCOLADES

Now keep in mind Sunder alongside the 3 other warlords were specifically assigned to be the leaders of the army by dread master styrak, which means he likely considers them the most powerful of the entire fleet, this makes sense seeing as the 4 warlords are the penultimate boss in the whole entire operation before styrak and that Gen'Dai are genetically not that smart so styrak clearly chose him due to strength (captain horic is one of the warlords btw)

Captain Horic in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:We command these armies. We're the best moey can buy. You think you can beat all of us, keep coming

Scum and villainy developer blog wrote:Players will need to plan their purchases carefully when dealing with the pushy arms dealer, Olok the Shadow. Finally, players will confront the leaders of the armies, and then discover the true purpose of their gathering

Sunder himself also seemingly before he is hired by styrak his own entire army of Gen'dai soldiers

Sunder in SWTOR operation scum and villainy wrote:I do ot call my army immortal. Our enemies do

CONCLUSION

To quickly conclude, Sunder alongside 3 others is the 2nd last boss in the scum and villainy operation in SWTOR
Sunder alongside 3 others has complete control over one of the most powerful fleets in existence, and he likely wasn't just hired for being smart seeming as Gen'Dais arent that smart anyway
Sunder was individually one of if not the best mercenary in the galaxy before being hired by styrak (alongside the other warlords)

TCWCG TALENTS EXPLANED

Roleplaying Game Saga Edition Core Rulebook wrote:ASSAULT ACTIONS: As a move action, you may designate a single creature or object as the target of an assault. If you succeed on a DC 15 Knowledge (tactics) check, you and all allies able to hear and understand you deal + ld6 points of damage to the target with each successful melee or ranged attack, until the start of your next turn. This is a mind-affecting effect.
BORN LEADER: Once per encounter, as a swift action, you grant all allies within your line of sight a + 1 insight bonus on attack rolls. This effect lasts for as long as they remain within line of sight of you. An ally loses this bonus immediately if line of sight is broken or if you are unconscious or dead.
BOLSTER ALLY: As a standard action, you can bolster an ally within line of sight, moving him + 1 step along the condition track (see Conditions, page 148) and giving him a number of bonus hit points equal to his character level if he's at one-half his maximum hit points or less. Damage is subtracted from the bonus hit points first, and any bonus hit points remaining at the end of the encounter go away. You can't bolster the same ally more than once in a single encounter, and you can't bolster yourself.
INSPIRE HASTE: As a swift action, you can encourage one of your allies within line of sight to make haste with a skill check. On that ally's next turn, that ally can make a skill check that requires a standard action as a  move action instead.

His CL should be Soldier 7 + Bounty Hunter 3 = 10 (which is a low number but WotC recognized this and upgraded him in the later Clone Wars Campaign Guide (which i talk about above)) The exact same article lists Ventress as a CL 11 and Maul as a CL 12, while these numbers are higher than durge they are close and this is a massively downplayed durge.
Being CL 10 does still give Durge some potency with being equal to episode II kenobi and being above people like ROTJ luke and AOTC anakin

Introducing Durge on starwars.com wrote:Durge is a powerful bounty hunter completely covered in battered battle armor. The action figure comes with an arsenal of weapons and a removable backpack. MENTAL HEALTH

Clone wars Durge is actually mentally insane and likely post prime, several sources all support this including count dooku.

Durge in the databank wrote: Durge was able to escape the Mandalorians, and retreated to parts unknown to hibernate and recover. It took nearly a century to undo the damage the Mandalorians wrought. Though his physical body had healed, Durge's already dangerous psyche was pushed further past the brink of sanity

PROJECT DURGE

Now this might seem a bit confusing but im just going to go in chronological order of these events. (note this all takes place around 1.5ABY)

While the SWG protagonist is doing stuff for fett, you run into someone callled Durge. This Durge seemingly dosent like boba, which is in line with his character

SWG wrote:Durge: Who are you and more importantly, where is Fett?
PC: I'm working for Fett, now where's Wogo?
Durge: So Fett has other people do his work now eh? Very well, have a look in that box and take what you need from Wogo, then go back to Fett and tell him that Durge is coming for him. Now get out of here before I lose my patience with you.

Boba fett then sends the player to try and find durge, boba also doubts if this "project durge" is actually durge

SWG wrote:Boba Fett: Is it done?
PC: Yes it's done but with a twist.
Boba Fett: How so?
PC: There was another person there when Wogo died.
Boba Fett: Go on.
PC: Wogo was already dead when I found him.
Boba Fett: He did have a lot of enemies.
PC: Well the killer was still there. Someone named Durge.
Boba Fett: Durge? You sure about the name?
PC: Yes. He told me, to tell you, that 'he's coming for you'.
Boba Fett: Alright. Let me see Wogo's gun.
PC: Sure. So do you know this Durge?
Boba Fett: Possibly. Here's your share of the bounty and the gun back, I don't want it.
PC: So what happens now?
Boba Fett: I may have use for you again. Come back later.

Then you go back to boba and start the next quest

Boba Fett: I've done some research on this person that claims he's Durge. The track ends at a research facility called the Warren on Dantooine. Go there and find clues to who this person is and possibly where he's at now.
PC: You say, claims he's Durge. You don't think he's who he says?
Boba Fett: Probably not.
PC: So who was Durge?
Boba Fett: You don't have to worry about that. Now will you do your part?
PC: Of course.
Boba Fett: Last I heard, the Warren was in a bit of turmoil so keep that in mind.

While on this quest the player runs into Ogl'woxz who explains that a group of imperial scientists were given a "research specimen" called durge, they put his body back together and the life form suddenly regenerates at a rapid rate and then escapes the group, this was called project durge.

SWG wrote:Ogl'woxz: Who are you and what are you looking for?
PC: Never mind who I am. I'm looking for information on one Durge.
Ogl'woxz: Durge... I should have guessed.
PC: So you know something about him?
Ogl'woxz: Yes I was assigned to the project code named Durge. That was before this place went crazy. None of us knew where the research specimen Durge came from or his origin. When he was brought in by our employers, he was a mess and could barely be called a life form. After we started to put together his damaged limbs and organs though, he started to recover at a rate which I have never seen before.
PC: Well what species was he?
Ogl'woxz: We're not sure. Even though he recovered at an incredible rate and could soon start to function normally, or rather exceptionally, his exteriors were badly scarred. It was hard to even imagine what he might once have looked like.
PC: So how did he get out?
Ogl'woxz: If you want to know anything else, you will help me escape this place. I have a datapad with all the information on the project hidden in the back room of the tavern at the mining outpost. Take me out of the lab and I'll give you the password to unlock it.
PC: Why don't you just leave?
Ogl'woxz: The droids in this place have been ordered to attack any 'employees' that try to leave the lab. I'm not fighter and wouldn't make it far.
PC: Fine. Need to get out of here anyway. Just don't get in the way.
Ogl'woxz: I wont, thank you

The player then returns to Boba after this and boba gives him the location of durge

SWG wrote:Boba Fett: What have you found out?
PC: Durge was indeed in the lab. Check this datapad.
Boba Fett: < Boba Fett looks through the information on the datapad > Interesting turn of events... You should get some rest. For the next part you will need it, as well as some serious firepower. Do you prefer Carbines or Rifles?
Boba Fett: Time to track down and put an end to the nuisance that is Durge. The criminal organization 'The Claw' runs their business out of the Dearic hotel on Talus. Their leader never leaves his office but the provided firepower should grant you a pass to have a word with him.
PC: I assume he will have a lot of bodyguards though...
Boba Fett: Yes.
PC: Oh well, for their sake, they better be good. I'm off.
Boba Fett: Good.

When the player arrives there they talk to Imbrimi who says that Durge killed several assassins and lots of men

SWG wrote:Imbrimi: You have no idea who you're dealing with!
PC: Why don't you tell me?
Imbrimi: Let's just say that you won't live to see tomorrow for what you have just done.
PC: And you won't live five seconds if you don't answer my questions.
Imbrimi: What is it you want?!
PC: I'm looking for Durge, ring a bell?
Imbrimi: What do you want with that scumbag?
PC: I just want to talk to him.
Imbrimi: You will find that Durge usually lets his blasters do the talking.
PC: I would be disappointed otherwise.
Imbrimi: Well good luck then. I've sent two assassins after him and they have both come back in pieces.
PC: Doesn't surprise me. < point to the bodies behind you >
Imbrimi: You have a point. Why do you want him dead?
PC: I'm asking the questions here. Why do YOU want him dead?
Imbrimi: Well Durge managed to get out word from a lab that he was imprisoned in, promising 10 million credits to anyone that would help him escape. We took the opportunity but Durge decided to pay with about 10 million laser bolts instead. I lost many men and barely survived myself.
PC: You mentioned you sent assassins after him. So where is he?
Imbrimi: Last location we tracked him down to was an abandoned building on Naboo, in the small city of Dee'Ja peak.
PC: Excellent, you've been most helpful. Have a nice day.
Imbrimi: If you kill him, I may consider forgetting what happened here today... as long as you never show your face here again.

The player then fights and seemingly kills durge

45:20

After this the player returns to fett again, fett doubts if Durge is actually dead

SWG wrote:Boba Fett: Well?
PC: It is done.
Boba Fett: Durge won't become a nuisance again?
PC: I can guarantee it.
Boba Fett: I doubt it. Did you bring anything back or am I to just take your word for it?
PC: I have his helmet. < hand Durge's helmet to Fett >
Boba Fett: That indeed looks like Durge's. I'll accept this as proof. I assume you know better than to try and trick me. For holding your end of the bargin you can have this. It used to serve an assassin well, just not well enough I suppose.
PC: It's been a pleasure working with you Fett.
Boba Fett: I've had worse associates as well (PC's name).

Its up to inerpretation if this is actually durge or not, i think it likely is based on the fact that this durge is clearly still a Gen'Dai based on what Ogl'woxz and boba say about Durge's regeneration.
And this dosent downscale Durge at all either seeming as Ogl'woxz mentions that this isnt really a true durge or a prime durge.

CWCG also thinks durge may have survived being thrown into the star

Clone Wars Campaign Guide wrote:Trapped, Durge is helpless to prevent young Skywalker from launching the shuttle into the nearest star-apparently ending Durge's long life once and for all.

CONCLUSION

CW Durge is post prime and mentally insane
Due to being a Gen'Dai he is basically unkillable
He has crazy stats placing him above a lot of people
He is compared to ventress several times
He has killed dozens of jedi and is profficent in killing jedi
He has a huge and diverse arsenal of weapons which could provide counters for most enemies

Thanks to  @Darth Durin's Baneling  for help with all the stats stuff[/quote]
