Yoda was too dogmatic and arrogant in my opinion. The Jedi of the prequels weren't really wise at all. Well, the same can be said of almost all post-Exar Kun Jedi though.

I agree with Luke being number 1, though. Qui-Gon is a good pick for a number 2 spot as well. Not sure who fill the rest of the spots.

Yoda was too conservative, yes. Way too conservative. I’d say Jedi Dooku is probably up there as well. Maybe Zez Kai Ell honestly, he was pretty open about admitting to the failures of the Jedi.

@AP Yes now that I think about it. Qui Gon deferred to Dooku over yoda in terms of advice and philosophy for the most part. Qui Gon preferring Dooku over Yoda is as good a reason as any to have Dooku take Yoda's spot.

I don't think Obi-Wan is getting enough credit here.

Obi-Wan was wise but still retained the traditional conservative Jedi outlook.

He also failed at appropriately teaching and guiding Anakin. This was a primary reason for Anakin's fall.

I don’t really blame him for that.

One thing I am sure is Yoda doesn't deserve to be on the list.

In The Empire Strikes Back, he does much more than instruct Luke Skywalker in combat or prepare him physically to fight Darth Vader; he readies his mind and tries to curb the boy’s impatience and anger, which is something that’s much harder to do. And through that, Luke — and the audience — learns that there’s much more to being a Jedi than adventuring. Of course, he also is a great warrior, as seen in the prequels, taking on Count Dooku, clone troopers, and Darth Sidious. Taken together, Yoda is the ultimate Jedi Master.

There’s no denying Yoda is extremely wise. He was meant and created to be exactly that. Yes, he might have had some flaws and did some mistakes, but there’s no denying about his wisdom. There’s no way he’s not going to be on this list.

There’s no denying Yoda is extremely wise. He was meant and created to be exactly that. Yes, he might have had some flaws and did some mistakes, but there’s no denying about his wisdom. There’s no way he’s not going to be on this list. 

He certainly does possess a great wisdom, that is for sure. But I gotta say this, he became much wiser after the destruction of the Jedi, which was entirely his fault. Even though with all that wisdom, experience and knowledge, Yoda's ideology was very strict and dogmatic. He was arrogant and prideful... His devotion to the Council and stupid rules of the Jedi makes me look him with disfavor. Qui-Gon and Master Fay, characters that were far less experienced than Yoda were wiser than him. In the end, Force rewarded this characters but not Yoda. Which is why I will never put him on top of the charts for being a wise character.
