Is there any hope for Darth Bane
October 28th 2020, 10:55 pm
Bane is one of my favorite sith an I think we can all agree that his feats and accolades are far more impressive than people that should theoretically scale above him.
the fact that Zannah actually wasn’t as powerful as bane when she defeated him means that the Banite line essentially started at Zannah and some of Banes secrets stayed with him it is also pretty likely that the earlier Banites like Zannah and Cognus would be more powerful up to Darth Gravid when they were set back a lot, and it took until about Tenebrous to get back on track, might that mean that
Bane >>> Zannah because she never surpassed him), Cognus, Millennial, Vectivus, Guile >>> Gravid, Gean, Geans apprentice, Ramage, Tenebrous’ master, Tenebrous seeing as Gravid set the sith back so far. And seeing as Bane learned from a bunch of sith like Revan and Nadd shouldn’t that mean Bane can be ranked somewhere around those guys. So...
Plagueis & Sidious etc.
Bane
Guile
Vectivus
Cognus
Zannah
Tenebrous
Tenebrous’ Master
Ramage
Geans apprentice
Gravid
This would also make sense given that Plageuis collection of sith studies was in the thousands so he will have had all the knowledge Bane had and more Putting him above Bane
The Big jump by Plageuis would also make sense given that the sith are clearly able to contend and more with the Jedi of that era (Maul vs Obi/Qui) when really considering that ancients > Tenebrous, the Jedi should be WAY ahead of the sith given that they didn’t have anything stopping their gradual steady growth from the old republic when the sith clearly did seeing as Sadow > Tenebrous. This would also make the whole sith going into hiding thing more important as they really weren’t ready to face the Jedi yet
I know there’s quotes that say the sith are constantly growing but how could that be true after the damage that’s as done with Gravid. Also that may just refer to in the grand scheme of things the plan worked and produced the most powerful sith, This is also supported by the fact that the quote actually says “ultimately” the sith grew stronger with every generation” and it would also make sense given that Banes a beast but by scaling he should get one shot by Ventress hahaha
Seeing as Bane showed difficulty defending against Andeddus Holocron, he did win but he can’t be too far above Andeddu because of this, Bane learnt a lot from Revan and Nadd although being above Nadd would put him too far away from Andeddu but he’s likely above Revan due to him having dig into a lot more lore. so I’ve personally placed him somewhere inbetween Revan and Nadd in the big power gap between the Dark Council and the Top Ancients this is conveniently where Banes power showings seem to fit being relative to characters on the Dark Council, with this theory I’m actually finding a lot of things falling into place like filling out a jigsaw hahaha
I believe there may be some hope

Gravid isn’t the weakest Banite. He slowed down the rate in which Banites became more powerful but isn’t the weakest Banite.

How is he not ? Keep in mind all the Banites are still pretty powerful and he didn’t just slow the teaching of the others he downright lost vital knowledge

@Vaelias
He still surpassed his master and his apprentice still surpassed him.

Gravid was already the Sith Master by that point. Are you suggesting that him destroying the records caused the information to be deleted from his brain?

No, there is no hope. Bane has been falling ever since carthage began his assault on Bane since the dawn of time, and I imagine that it will continue to stay that way for a long time, unless if the community is fully purged from existence.
Bane dies.
Bane dies.

True

Zannah wasn't as powerful as Bane when she beat him, Yes, because she summoned dark side tendrils with the use of a circumstantial amp granted via the nexus where the fight took place that helped her win. Bane was also weakened from being drugged and somewhat tortured. Zannah still surpassed Bane later in her life time, so no, the Banite line still started at Bane.
Bane >>> Zannah because she never surpassed him
She had decades to grow after Bane's death, when she could already stand up to him before this point.
The Big jump by Plageuis would also make sense given that the sith are clearly able to contend and more with the Jedi of that era (Maul vs Obi/Qui)
Darth Maul doesn't get Banite scaling. Sidious was the last Sith that received it.
when really considering that ancients > Tenebrous
Not this again.
There's no source that says the Banites ever lost power going to the next generation. Although they did lose Knowledge at one point, yes.

Not saying maul gets banite scaling but when the banite Line grows the apprentices do too and it shows how Maul was ready to fight the Jedi because the sith as a whole has become more powerful
If they lost knowledge they must have lost power too, seeing as people of Tenebrous’ war wouldn’t even know what a sith spirit is, a significant amount of sith knowledge was lost this cant have not affected power

Per Luceno, the purpose of Gravid's story was to make the old magics inaccessible to Plagueis. Not to weaken the lineage.

Maybe it’s both, it’s entirely possible and even likely that the sith were weaker having lost access to certain abilities, also due to Plagueis’ extensive library Plagueis made it even further than the other sith becoming much more powerful than the old sith ever where hence why he’s implied to have Parity yo TPM Sheev

Sadly no. Bane is trapped by Banite scaling. There's simply too much evidence noting its existence and effect on power levels relating to certain Sith.
