SWTOR's my favourite but that's because of the gameplay and other things like multiplayer (the RP keeps me coming back). In terms of storytelling, KOTOR 2 > KOTOR > SWTOR.

Honestly KOTOR 2 is poorly made when it comes to storytelling, but it is due to deadline given to Obsidian. Cut content are too damn much. Besides Kreia, rest of the game is eh IMO.

I'm currently in the middle of replaying KOTOR and will more than likely replay KOTOR 2 afterwards (this is my first time playing both in like 5 years lol). I might give more conclusive thoughts and reasons when my replay is done.

I think it's genuinely unfair to say KOTOR 1 is a better game because it has a better story. A game's primary purpose is to deliver good gameplay first. And this is where KOTOR 2 completely shits on KOTOR 1. 
KOTOR 2 has better writing as well.
I still love both games though

The story of KotOR 2 is infinitely greater than the original kotor. The twist in KotOR's story isn't changing that

However narrative of KOTOR 2 is half ass made. After the Jedi Masters' death, story rushes to a shit ending. Companions are like non-existent, some of the mentioned content is forgotten and barely anything you did matters at the end. Besides the awesome writing and dialogues, KOTOR 2 truly feels lack of elements to storytelling and narrative. It would most definitely surpass the first one if LucasArt gave Obsidian more time and space. It is fascinating that they managed to create a game of this depth in so short of time.

You literally doom the Republic and Jedi Order or save it, how is that not changing anything?
