Darth Tenebrous vs Darth Venamis

Darth Tenebrous as of when he killed his Master. Darth Venamis as of his fight with Plagueis.

Tenebrous. The Plagueis in which Venamis fought and lost to was likely still below Tenebrous.

Given that Venamis was in the process of recruiting an apprentice by the time of his defeat, it's probable he was nearing his confrontation with Tenebrous. If Tenebrous choose well and we assume he's substantually lesss powerful 100 years prior then Venamis should take it.

How can we know? The novel suggests that this is Tenebrous well over the average human's lifetime ago. We have literally no knowledge other than the fact that he appeared to kill his master easily, which still doesn't tell us much of anything.

Nah. Tenebrous had tasked Plagueis with the same objective. Venamis scouting for potential recruits doesn't mean he had the intention of supplanting Tenebrous soon.

The unbridled desires of sentients were a blessing to the Sith, for those desires birthed an abundance of zealous and audacious beings who could be used to further the cause. Plagueis had been instructed to be on the lookout for suitable beings, just as Tenebrous had been when he had discovered Venamis.
