TPM Darth Maul vs Darth Malak (no amp)

What does KotOR I Shan actually have to her name that puts her on Qui-Gon level? The only bit of wank around KotOR I Shan that I recall is all around her Battle Meditation ability, not her lightsaber skill or raw power. 

Honestly, Malak is pretty hard for me to judge. Sure, he's above Bastila Shan and Darth Bandon, but neither of those characters really impresses me much. Without the Star Forge giving him a gigantic amp, I don't see anything that places Malak on the level of someone like Qui-Gon or Maul. 

Physically speaking, the two might be somewhat close in strength and durability, but I'd argue Maul has a pretty serious agility edge. When it comes to lightsaber skill, I don't see anything that would let Malak be even remotely comparable to Maul, who has utterly dominated a Jedi Battlemaster with relative ease. The only real advantage Malak has is his use of the Force. He's been able to stun the likes of Bastila and mid-game Revan, and Malak also has use of Force Lightning. But honestly, I don't see that being enough to put Malak above Maul.

I've never seen the quote in question. If you can dig it up, then that would easily put Malak>Maul.

he might have a slight edge in the force round but thats about it (even that is doubtful)

To quote the worst SW movie of all time, "Amazing, every word in that sentence was wrong". 

Malak fought Revan while amped and lost, granted. How is that a low showing in any capacity whatsoever? That's a good showing for Revan, not a bad one for Malak. Base Malak already possesses "powers far greater than Exar Kun", so the idea that he's weak, or as you put it, "not impressive at all", is ludicrous. Need I remind you of the stupid scaling Malak gets from having "powers far greater than Kun"? He scales vastly over the likes of (say) Thon, Ood Bnar, etc. 

Thon scaling is so stupidly potent, that there is no reason, at all, that Malak is weak in any way shape or form. He scales massively above "spirits that threatened to consume the entire sector". Ood Bnar drawing upon the full power of the Ossus nexus (a nexus so effing powerful, it literally let the planet survive ten goddamn supernovas), was only powerful enough to stalemate a tired Kun, while also on one of the most potent Light Side nexuses, well, ever. 

The fact that MP, the steadfast Jinn supporter is saying that somebody that is likely superior to Jinn (or at least an equal) is saying that Malak should take this, you know something's wrong -- likely with you.

Malak challenged Revan when he was still Revan's apprentice (pre-KOTOR) and almost won.

Good thread. Maul is stronger, faster, tougher, more resilient, better trained, more skilled, more determined, more powerful, smarter, better looking and in possession of better feats and accolades.

Malak is an imposing figure with ghostly pale features, prominent Sith tattoos, a gleaming red lightsaber, and devastating Dark Side power, who struck terror into the hearts of his former allies. He also wore a vocal mask that may have concealed a form of cybernetic life-support. Did it provide him with powers far greater than even Qui-Gon Jinn or Darth Maul?
